Vernis

Les vernis permettent de protéger une oeuvre des agressions naturelles et chimiques. Ils lui confèrent un aspect uniforme mat, satiné ou brillant. Les vernis sont des vernis provisoires (vernis à retoucher) ou des vernis finals pour préserver l'oeuvre. Le choix du vernis est fonction de la nature de l'oeuvre, de l'effet souhaité et de la rapidité du séchage.
Appliquer sur une oeuvre parfaitement sèche ; ceci nécessite d'attendre 1 an avant application d'un vernis final. Cette application de vernis final doit s'effectuer en 2 phases : application d'abord d'une première couche de vernis dilué à 10-20%, puis après séchage d'un jour ou deux, d'une deuxième couche de vernis pur ou dilué à 10%. Bien tirer le vernis en croisant lors de son application.
